Hong Kong Airport Fire Forces Evacuation

(MENAFN) A fire erupted near a departure gate at Hong Kong International Airport on Tuesday, prompting emergency evacuations, Hong Kong-based media reported.

Emergency crews from the Fire Services Department received the alert at 3:03 PM local time (0703 GMT) and successfully suppressed the flames by 4:01 PM (0801 GMT), according to departmental records.

Thirty individuals were evacuated from the affected zone during the incident, the department confirmed.

Multiple boarding gates experienced temporary closures as firefighters battled the blaze, though the Airport Authority confirmed zero casualties resulted from the emergency.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation as normal airport operations gradually resumed following the hour-long response effort.
